12. Calvin Klein







Calvin Klein (1942. november 19. - ) amerikai divattervező. 1968-ban alapította azt a vállalatot, amely később Calvin Klein Inc.-re változtatta a nevét.

Calvin Richard Kleinként született zsidó-magyar bevándorlók gyermekeként, Bronxban. Az Industrial Art Középiskolába járt, majd beiratkozott a New York\\\'s Fashion Institute of Technologyra, de soha sem diplomázott. 1962-ben fejezte be tanulmányit. Ezután öt évig New York-i butikoknál volt tervező. Klein egy volt a sok tervező közül, akit felemeltek a zsidó bevándorló közösségből , Bronx- ban. Ilyen volt még például Robert Denning és Ralph Lauren.

Majd 1968-ban egy gyerekkori barátjával, Barry Schwartzcal elindította első vállalatát, ahol először csak kabátokat és ruhákat gyártottak. Calvin Klein Baron de Gunzburg mentora lett, akinek a bemutatóin keresztül a New York-i elit egyik kedvencévé vált, még mielőtt meghatározó sikereket ért volna el az első farmersorozatával. Később egy az Interview magazinnak adott interjújában, amelyet nem sokkal Baron halála után adtak ki, azt mondta: „Ő volt igazából az életem legnagyobb inspirációja... ő volt az én mentorom, én meg az övé. Ha egy stílussal és igazi eleganciával rendelkező egyénről beszélsz- talán sznob vagyok, de el mondom neked, senki sem hasonlítható hozzá. Úgy gondolom, hogy bár néha keresztülvitt engem a poklon, szerencsés voltam. Olyan szerencsés voltam, hogy ilyen sokáig ismerhettem."

1964-ben Klein összeházasodott Jayne Centre-rel, akitől született egy lánya, Marci, aki jelenleg az NBC szombati Night Live-jának producerként dolgozik. Klein és Centre 1974-ben elváltak. 1987-ben feleségül vette Kelly Rector-t. Tőle 2006 márciusában vált el.

11. Bora Aksu



London based Turkish designer Bora Aksu received his first acclaim when he graduated from Central St Martin’s MA in 2002. Hailed as ‘the star of the show’ by The Daily Telegraph, The Guardian and The Independent, Bora’s collection also attracted the eye of Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabanna who purchased pieces to use as                                                                                              inspiration.


With confidence in Bora assured the ARG group awarded him sponsorship enabling him to make his debut off-schedule show at London Fashion Week in February 2003. A resounding success his debut was named ‘one of the top five shows’ by The Guardian and subsequently led Aksu to receive the New Generation Award placing him on the official London Fashion Week schedule the very next season. In total four consecutive New Generation Awards were given to Bora who remains on the official London Fashion Week schedule.

Always happier in the background and rarely giving interviews Bora prefers to let his designs do the talking. Through his career he has developed a very distinct signature. Romantic but always with a darker twist his demi-couture pieces are full of elegance, intrigue and seduction.

During his career Aksu has collaborated with other international brands likeTopshop, Nike, Converse, Anthropologie, Absolute, Koton, Armaggan, Bracher Endem, People Tree and had seven windows at Selfridges. He has also created costumes for signers Clare Maguire, Tori Amos, Little Boots and dance company The Cathy Marston Project while dressing Keira Knightley and Sienna Miller for film junkets and collaborating with the Dali Institute and Design Museum.

Bora Aksu now produces 4 collections a year having introduced Pre collections in 2012 as well as a hosiery line. In autumn winter 2012 his first handbag collection was released with exclusive styles launching in Harrods.
In 2012 Bora Aksu was asked to join the judging panel of the WGSN Global Fashion Awards and he also won Designer of the Year at the Elle Style Awards, Turkey.

10. Betty Jackson



Betty Jackson has become one of Britain's most celebrated and best loved British designers. Lancashire born designer Betty demonstrated her unwavering creative vision from the very beginning of her design career. She studied at the Birmingham College of Fashion under Designer, Zandra Rhodes and started her own career as a fashion illustrator during her final year of college.
In 1973, Betty started her professional career working with Wendy Dagworthy and later went onto work for Quorum, before setting up her own design company Betty Jackson Ltd with husband David Cohen in 1981.

The range quickly gained recognition within the industry and Betty went on to open her flagship shop on the Brompton Road, London in 1991.











Betty has been showing at London Fashion Week for over 20 years, she was awarded the ‘British Designer of the Year' award in 1985 and has received countless awards since including ‘Designer of the Year' again in 1999. Betty was also involved in the TV Show ‘Absolutely Fabulous' and created notorious costumes for the lead characters: Eddy and Patsy. 

In 2007 Betty Jackson was honored with a CBE. Betty has become a patron of British style and continues to show at London Fashion Week.




















Betty joined the Designers at Debenhams portfolio in 2005, launching the highly successful Betty Jackson.Black range. 9. Betsey Johnson

Amerikában a 70-es években az uralkodó divatirányzat az egyszerűsödés. Betsey Johnson megjelenése véget vet ennek. Vinillel, flitterrel dolgozik. Független szellemiség, fantázia és humor jellemzi. Ő jeleníti meg először a hetvenes években még szokatlan nonkonformizmust.
Betsey Johnson Weathersfieldben született.
1964-ben végezte el a Syracuse Egyetemet.
Ezután a Mademoiselle-nél dolgozott vendég szerkesztőként.
1965-ben főtervező lett a Paraphernalianál.

1969-ben Alvin Dunskinnál, majd 1971-ben Alley Catnél dolgozott kreatív igazgatóként. 

Betseyre a hippi és néprajzi elemek voltak hatással.Ő a rock & roll ruha királynője.
A következő év mérföldkő volt a karrierjében. 1972-ben megnyerte a neves Coty Awardot.
1978-ban megalapította saját cégét, Betsey Johnson label alatt.
Első márkaboltját a hírhedt Sohoban nyitotta meg.1995-ben figyelme a szépségipar felé fordult.Ekkor dobta piacra első parfümjét és a hozzá tartozó szépségápolási terméke
ket.





8. Anne Sophie Back

Ann-Sofie Back launched her eponymous label in 2001. In 2005, she launched Back, a secondary line with a more accessible price point. Signature pieces play with the silhouette in a humorous yet wearable way.
In 2009, Back was appointed the joint creative director of denim brand Cheap Monday, alongside its founder Örjan Andersson.
 In the same year, a "hostage" store was opened in Stockholm - in which monthly themed events took place, such as "crimes against fashion" and "horror night". The store was the first combined Ann-Sofie Back/Back store.
Prior to her launching her own label, Back worked as a designer for Joe Casely Hayford in London, as well as at Acne Jeans.
 
Not content with being just a designer, Back is a stylist and fashion editor forSelf Service and Purple magazine among others.
 In October 2001, Back debuted her own ready-to-wear collection at the Purple institute in Paris, and after four seasons participating in the Paris shows, began showing in London during London Fashion Week.  She continues to show in London.
Fans of her creations include Chloe Sevigny, Daisy Lowe and singer Robyn.
Back has taken part in group design and art shows that span London's ICA and the Victoria and Albert Museum, as well as Paris' Palais du Tokio and the Musee de la Mode de la Ville de Paris. Her work was included in the Reshape show, featuring on the official schedule of 2003's Venice Biennale.
In 2004, a documentary entitled BACK was aired on Swedish National Television. It detailed the story of the label from the first show in Paris.
Back has also designed capsule collections for Topshop in London.
She was awarded the prestigious Goldbutton Award, the equivalent of the CFDA awards in Sweden and, such has been the success of her label, a stamp was produced in Sweden to celebrate.

In 2007, she was nominated for the Swiss Textile Award.

13. Catherine Walker

Catherine Walker (27 June 1945 – 23 September 2010) was a French born fashion designer based in London. Born as Catherine Marguerite Marie-Therese Baheux in the Pas-de-Calais, France, she was noted for having supplied over 1,000 outfits for Diana Princess of Wales who was buried in a black dress designed by Walker


Walker studied Aesthetics and Philosophy at the universities of Lille and Aix-en Province and achieved a Master's degree. While studying for a PhD she moved to London and lived in Earl's Court.She became a permanent resident after marrying solicitor John Walker in 1970. The couple had two daughters. In 1975 John Walker was killed in an accident. Her second husband was Said Ismael from Iran, a lecturer at the Chelsea School of Art who also became her business partner.





Princess Diana
She began her commercial life selling children’s clothes. She later moved into designing for women, specialising in high-end evening dresses, occasionwear and wedding dresses. In 1976 she set up her own company Chelsea Design Company in Sydney Street, Chelsea. In 1991, Walker was awarded Designer of the Year for Glamour and in 1990 Designer of the Year for Couture. Walker was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1995, and was treated surgically. She became a founding sponsor of Breast   Cancer Haven
